Graduate profile

The programme participant acquires a profound understanding of contemporary determinants of and challenges to environmental conservation and understands the legal complexity and principles of management of the common resources. Graduates can plan and execute actions towards effective monitoring, protection and sustainable use of natural resources. They recognise current threats to the environment and can devise preventive and repair actions. They obtain interpersonal skills to successfully apply such competences in real world environmental management. Graduates are able to raise funding and apply for grants. Completion of studies allows employment in public or private sectors worldwide: the administration of protected areas, environmental agencies, various research units as well as non-governmental organisations and private enterprises.

Our experienced staff, familiarized with international, cross-cultural academic environment, imparts deepened and constantly updated theoretical and practical knowledge, emphasising team work, developing problem-solving skills and planning field and experimental research. The unique, interdisciplinary study programme provides a large number of practical activities in well equipped, modern laboratories. The students gain a broad understanding of ecological and evolutionary principles and enter a path to become successful scientists who can publish results of self-conducted research in recognised international scientific journals. They acquire adaptive social and managerial competences along with a design mindset - so as to utilize ecological knowledge in practical environmental conservation and resources management.

Graduates become effective scientists able to set up experiments and research (including field research/work) using the most siutable and modern methods, analyse obtained results, write scientific papers and reports, and prepare their spoken or visual presentations. The accomplishment of two-year studies allows them to become employed in dynamically evolving public or private sectors worldwide: laboratories, public administration, governmental agencies, various types of research units as well as non-governmental and private organisations.
